SureShot Books – Refund & Correction Policy 

Effective Date: September 24, 2025


Overview

SureShot Books is committed to providing high-quality service to our customers and their loved ones in correctional facilities.
Because we process orders immediately upon payment, including verification, data entry, and non-refundable payment processing, we maintain a clear Refund & Correction Policy to ensure fairness to both customers and staff.

By completing your purchase, you acknowledge and agree to the terms below.


1. 24-Hour Correction Window

Customers have 24 hours from the time of purchase to request a correction, change, or cancellation.

Within this 24-hour period, you may:

  • Request cancellation and receive a store credit for the full purchase amount 

Processing Fees

All transactions incur non-refundable payment processing fees charged by our provider (typically 2.9% + $0.30


2. After 24 Hours

Once an order passes 24 hours, it enters active processing, including title allocation, verification, and packing preparation. 

At this point, the order is considered final and non-refundable.

Cancellations requested after 24 hours will be handled as:

  • Store credit only 

  • No refunds can be issued unless approved by management - Example: Inmate has been released. PLEASE NOTE: THIS INFORMATION WILL BE VERIFIED OF INMATE RELEASE WITH FACILITY.

    Regarding books not accepted by the facility, NOT APPROVED VENDOR 
     REFUND IS ISSUED - MINUS SHIPPING FEES - AS WE MUST PAY USPS TO RECEIVE THE PACKAGE BACK.

Store credits never expire and can be used for any future purchase.


3. If a Refund Is Issued

In cases where management authorizes a refund to the original payment method (instead of store credit), the following fees apply:

  • Payment Processing Fee: 2.9% of total purchase + $0.30 (non-refundable by credit card provider)

  • Restocking & Handling Fee: 10% of total order value (covers staff time, verification, and reallocation of publications)

Total Deduction on Refunds: approximately 13%–15% of the order value.

This ensures the business can recover direct costs already incurred before shipment.

 

4. Explanation for Customers Who Decline Store Credit

At SureShot Books, we always recommend store credit because:

  • Store credit preserves your full purchase value.

  • Refunds always result in a deduction for fees already paid to banks and processors.

  • Our labor costs (verification, facility check, order prep) begin immediately after payment — even if the order has not shipped.

When customers demand a refund rather than credit, we process it as a loss to the company, since payment providers do not return the fees we paid when you placed the order.
For that reason, refunds are only issued in rare, approved cases — and must include the processing fee (2.9% + $0.30) and 10% restocking/handling fee deduction.

We want to be transparent; these are not penalties. They are real costs that have already been paid on your transaction and cannot be recovered once the payment is processed.


5. SureShot Books Errors

If SureShot Books Publishing LLC makes a mistake (wrong title, duplicate order, incorrect shipment), we take full responsibility.

We will:

  • Issue a full store credit for the total amount or

  • Resend the correct item at no additional cost.


6. Inmate Transfers or Facility Changes

If your recipient has been transferred or is in transit, we can:

1. Forward the order to the new facility if publication has yet to ship, and all returns that have to be reshipped - the customer pays re-shipping fees. 
2. Provide a store credit equal to your full purchase value
3. Hold publications until the inmate arrives at the new facility

We do not issue refunds in these cases, as the order was properly processed and verified according to the information provided at checkout.


7. Non-Refundable Situations

Refunds or Credits will not be issued for:

  • Incorrect inmate / facility information was submitted by the customer.

  • Duplicate or accidental orders made by the customer.

  • Buyer’s remorse or changed circumstances.

  • Delays caused by USPS or the correctional mailroom.

  • Orders that are shipped as placed by the customer, even if the recipient is transferred or released.


8. Store Credit Details

  • Store credits are issued and can be redeemed on www.sureshotbooks.com website.

  • Credits never expire and can be used on any future purchase.

  • Lost or misplaced credit codes can be reissued upon request.


9. Chargebacks & Disputes

Filing a chargeback after accepting these terms may result in the forfeiture of store credit and suspension of future ordering privileges. Our support team is always available to resolve any issues quickly and fairly.


10. Request Process

To request a correction, cancellation, or refund:

IMPORTANT NOTE: All non-returnable books are noted in the book’s description. We will gladly reship your non-refundable book(s) to an alternate address of your choice. You must provide applicable shipping and handling rates for the number of books reshipped to an alternate address. If we do not hear from you within thirty (30) days, the books will be donated to charity.

IMPORTANT NOTES REGARDING NEWSPAPER SUBSCRIPTIONS:

ALL SALES ARE FINAL! NO REFUNDS, CREDITS, OR CANCELLATIONS. SureShot Books Publishing LLC cannot offer refunds, credits, or cancellations for newspaper subscription purchases. The reason for this is that our newspaper publishers do not allow for refunds, credits, or cancellations once an order is processed.

The newspaper subscription you purchased for your loved one is a MAIL subscription. It is not a daily delivery subscription. Therefore, your loved one will not receive newspapers every day nor every other day. Please allow 3-7 days per dated issue to be delivered to his/her correctional facility. Because it is a MAIL subscription, he/she can expect to receive their newspapers sporadically. This means that some days, he/she may not receive a newspaper, while other days he/she may receive more than one (1) issue.

All newspaper subscriptions are delivered by the USPS. Once a newspaper is mailed, it is the sole responsibility of the USPS to deliver the newspaper to his/her correctional facility. SureShot Books Publishing LLC has no control over when newspapers will be delivered to his/her facility by the USPS.

REASONS FOR DELIVERY DELAYS BY USPS: Reasons for delays in receiving his/her newspaper by the USPS may include the following: holidays, inclement weather, facility lockdowns, etc.

Once the newspaper is delivered to the correctional facility, it is up to the correctional facility to distribute the newspapers to your loved one. SureShot Books Publishing LLC has no control over when the facility distributes newspapers to inmates. For questions or concerns, please contact the facility’s Mail Room.

If your loved one has not received any issues of his/her newspaper within the first ten (10) days of the subscription start date, please contact us via email at info@sureshotbooks.com so that we can look into the subscription and resolve the issue.

Newspaper Publishers allow for a change of address ONLY. Please notify us as soon as possible if your loved one’s address changes so that we can update his/her information with the newspaper publisher. The correctional facility is responsible for forwarding all incoming mail, including newspapers, to his/her new address up to thirty (30) days of relocation. SureShot Books Publishing LLC is not responsible for any missing newspaper editions due to a change of address. 

IMPORTANT NOTES REGARDING MAGAZINE PURCHASES:

ALL SALES ARE FINAL! NO REFUNDS, CREDITS, OR CANCELLATIONS. SureShot Books Publishing LLC cannot offer refunds, credits, or cancellations for magazine subscriptions or single-shot magazine purchases. The reason for this is that our Clearing House does not allow for refunds, credits, or cancellations once an order is processed. Please be sure to check with the correctional facility’s guidelines prior to purchasing magazines, as some facilities allow for magazine subscriptions ONLY and do not allow single-issue magazines.

Magazine subscriptions ship directly from Publishers Clearing House. Some magazine subscriptions may take 6-12 weeks before the first issue is received. If your loved one has not received his/her first magazine subscription issue sixty (60) after purchase, then you should contact us. All “Single Shot” magazines ship directly from our New York headquarters. Please allow 7-14 days for delivery by the United States Postal Service.

Magazine Publishers allow for a change of address ONLY. Please notify us immediately if your loved one’s address changes so that our Clearing House can process this change of address. It is the responsibility of the correctional facility to forward all incoming mail, including newspapers and magazines, up to thirty (30) days after your loved one has been relocated to a new facility. SureShot Books Publishing LLC is not responsible for any missing magazine issues due to a change of address.

Magazine Publishers may cancel a subscription without notice. If this happens to your order, we will forward a similar product to substitute your original selection.
